There comes a time in your woodworking journey you're gonna need to drill straight holes...behold the drill press. I explored my needs and options and ultimately decided on Harbor Freight. Before we get started, make sure to follow me on YouTube, Instagram and FaceBook to keep up with all my latest projects! Before we get into the operation of the machine, I provided a chart of the specs of the machine. On the left side of the press, it provides you with a switched flexible work light. The bulb is just a standard halogen bulb so a LED upgrade would do it justice. The drilling depth gauge is also located on the left. The machine has a drilling depth of 2 inches and you can adjust the stroke anywhere in between by simply screwing the nuts down to the stop collar. The provided arrow shows you the depth you want exactly. The power switch is located on the front. A lock-out tool is also provided so you can comfortably leave the machine with curious hands turning it on. On the right side you'll find the drilling handles, a sticker with some important specs and warnings, as well as a screw to loosen the motor for adjusting the belt. When you open the top cover you'll find the pulleys and belt. On the inside of the cover, you're provided with a RPM chart for the different belt configurations. You'll find a lever on the bottom right for the table movements. It moves all around giving you plenty of work positioning options. The table also tilts 45 degrees in either direction by a bolt located under the table near the shaft. The press drills straight and true and has plenty of power for most everyday tasks. At $79.99 (current 2022 price) it has been a valuable tool in my collection. The ability to drill straight holes is crucial at times and nothing makes it easier than a press. After comparing multiple machines of this size, at this price point, you really can't go wrong with this one.
